We are currently recruiting for three professional, passionate rural financial counsellors to work with local farmers in Bega, Broken Hill and Bourke. Use your skills in business, finance, and agriculture to guide and support farmers through hard times. Qualifications are ideal but not essential.

Job Description: Rural Financial Counsellor

Financial analysis

  • Complete and apply the Diploma in Financial Counselling
  • Understand debt types and products and processes available for resolution
  • Complete financial/business reviews for clients including development of a Statement of financial position, P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, financial ratios and forecasts and Budget
  • Support client negotiations with lenders, creditors and financial institutions in the presence of the client or with the written authority of the client

Client centric case management

  • Deliver client led financial counselling sessions according to the organisation’s service delivery model to address presenting financial issues of clients and support them to gain the ability, skills and knowledge to manage their financial affairs
  • Ensure client records are accurate, complete and maintained concurrently with the provision of client services
  • Establish and maintain current knowledge of required systems and processes to deliver client services
  • Develop a network of services to refer clients to based on their needs and aspirations

Business development

  • Contribute to marketing initiatives to promote the service
  • Develop strong relationships and processes with agencies to obtain client referrals
  • Attend and deliver relevant events in the local community to promote the service

Community engagement

  • Participate in relevant community development initiatives
  • Monitor and where appropriate respond to policy proposals and their implementation in relation to Financial Counselling, which have a direct impact on the quality of life of Australian families e.g. social security changes
